This week, we’re excited to show you how to bring the energizing, fresh feelings of our Melodic Mint pen to your skin.
As we finally start to see the first few days of sun after a long, cold winter, our skin is feeling tired and dry. The harsh winds, cold temperatures, and lack of sunshine can leave your skin looking dull and ready for a pick-me-up.
Melodic mint is known for its fresh, cooling notes that uplift you on even the darkest of days, and now, you can bring that same energy and vibrancy to your skin with a DIY Melodic Mint sugar scrub, that you might already have the ingredients for at home.
Here’s what you’ll need:
-1/2 cup coconut oil
-1/4 cup granulated white sugar (you can also use brown sugar if you prefer)
-3 tablespoons of finely chopped mint leaves (about a handful of fresh leaves)
-2 tablespoons honey
The mint will bring a bright, dewy glow to your complexion, while the honey nourishes your skin cells, so you’ll be feeling energized, but soft, just like you do with a Venna Melodic Mint pen. It’s invigorating, yet soothing.
If you don’t already have these items on hand, we recommend heading to your local co op or produce market to make sure you’re getting the best, most organic ingredients to put on your skin.
Once you have everything ready, combine all the ingredients in a bowl, and mix until you have about the consistency of wet sand. You may have to crush the sugar and oils together to ensure everything is thoroughly stirred, so keep mixing until it feels like a heavy exfoliator.
Now that your scrub is made, you can scoop it into a jar and seal it to keep it fresh. If you made more than enough, a jar of homemade sugar scrub is a great gift to give to a friend (or scoop small amounts into mini jars and host an at home spa night, so each guest can take home their personal scrub).
And, voila! You’re finished.
To use this delicious-smelling scrub, simply get your skin wet, take a nickel-sized dollop on your hands and rub gently into your skin. This scrub is safe to use everywhere, but since the exfoliating sugar can be rough on sensitive skin, we recommend using it on your arms, legs, feet, hands, or lips to avoid irritating your face or neck.
This simple scrub is perfect to use after a warm bath, in the shower, or on your lips before bed, to ensure you wake up feeling silky and smooth wherever you applied it.
To get the most out of your sugar scrub, use two or three times a week to give your skin a bright, energetic glow, and you’ll be feeling like strolling through the grass in the warm spring sun in no time.
